HOUSE RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
1. USE OF ALCOHOL AND OTHER MIND-ALTERING SUBSTANCES: First and foremost, TPRH is an alcohol and drug free environment. The use of either is strictly prohibited while residing at our house, and will lead to the immediate termination of your residency contract. This provision will be enforced by any and all lawful means, including the administration of random drug tests and/or the use of a breathalyzer. Refusal to comply with the request for a test, for any reason, shall have the same force and effect as a failed test. _
2. PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION: Upon admission, residents will inform the House Manager of any and all prescription medications they are currently using. As a general rule, medications will be kept in the possession of the resident to whom they are prescribed. Residents will not share their prescribed medications with any other resident. Each resident is solely responsible for the safekeeping and administration of their meds. However, there are certain medications which may be required to be kept in the house safe and administered by the House Manager. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
3. MANDATORY MEETINGS: The following meeting attendance is required of all TPRH residents;
a). At least four (4) recovery meetings a week, one of which may be online.
b). Morning meditation at the house, which begins at 7 a.m. each weekday morning.
c). The weekly house “eating meeting” every Sunday evening.
4. SPONSORSHIP: Residents must get a sponsor within the first two (2) weeks of their residency. Sponsors should be active members of the local recovery community and should have sponsors themselves. While we recognize that each sponsor-sponsee relationship will have unique aspects, it is expected that you will diligently work thru the steps while a resident.
5. CURFEW AND OVERNIGHT PASSES: During the first thirty (30) days of residence, curfew is 10 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 p.m. on the weekends. After one month of residence, curfew will be 11 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends, and residents can ask the house manager for overnight and travel passes. These will be granted on an individual basis.
6. EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION AND IOP: Each resident is expected to be either gainfully employed, enrolled as student or participating in an IOP program. Any client who is not so employed or so enrolled is expected to attend a recovery meeting every day until this requirement is met.
7. HOUSECLEANING AND CHORES: The residents are expected to keep the house immaculately clean at all times. This includes all common areas and personal space. Each resident will be given a daily chore, which will rotate each week. The house will be deep cleaned once a week, on a day of the house manager’s choosing.
8. VAPING AND SMOKING: Smoking is absolutely prohibited inside the house. Smoking is allowed in the designated area in the backyard, and butt cans are to be used. There shall be no smoking in the front yard. Vaping is allowed inside the house if all who are present agree.
9. OTHER IMPORTANT PROVISIONS: Residents are also expected to adhere to the following;
a). No stealing money, food or personal property. This will result in immediate expulsion and possible involvement with law enforcement
b). No fighting or physical violence. This will result in immediate expulsion and possible involvement with law enforcement.
c). No outside guests are allowed in the bedroom areas. Guests may be allowed in the common areas, at the house manager’s discretion.
d). All items left in the house past 14 days becomes the property of Tres Pescados Properties, LLC.
e). The community television is to be turned off at 11 p.m. on weeknights. There will be no video games played on the house television. While TPRH does not provide televisions in bedrooms, you are welcome to use your own, provided you do so in a manner that does not upset your roommate and fellow residents.
f). Each resident will be given a unique four-digit passcode to the front and back door. Resident agrees not to share their passcode with any other person, including other residents. Resident is responsible for locking the door each and every time he leaves the house.
10. HOUSE MANAGER’S DISCRETION AND AUTHORITY: It is expressly understood that the House Manager has wide discretion in implementing and enforcing these rules. The House Manager also has the authority to implement additional rules and procedures necessary to maintain a safe and accountable environment within the house. Any such additional rules and procedures will be communicated to the residents at the weekly house meeting.
11. EFFECT OF THESE PROVISIONS: It is expressly understood that these House Rules are also terms and conditions of the Residency Contract, and the violation of any rule contained herein could lead to immediate expulsion from the house. Any variance from these rules must be discussed and agreed upon with the House Manager.
